JOB TITLE: Massage Therapist
REPORTS TO: Spa Director/Spa Manager
BASIC PURPOSE: Perform various forms of massage therapy ()(25,50 and 80 minute treatments., and perform salt glows, body wraps and other specialized treatments in the Spa.
Greet guests in a friendly and pleasing manner. Perform all aspects of a Licensed Massage Therapist in a professional, proficient, and timely fashion. Keeping in mind the needs of the guest and the atmosphere of the spa. All massages are performed in a professional manner using proper proper body mechanics to eliminate the chance of fatigue or injury.
1. Provide massage therapy manually with hands, stones,hot towels and products. To perform body treatments upon request.
2. Adhere to product and inventory check-out system.
3. Keep Service/Treatment products filled and ready for next service or therapist. Responsible for turning over the treatment room and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
4. Maintain cleanliness of Spa treatment rooms (clean sheets and towels, tables always ready, counters and cupboards clean).
Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly service oriented manner
Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Interstate Hotels standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming , which include wearing the proper business attire and nametag while working.
Comply at all times with Interstate Hotels standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
Perform treatments to local SOP’s
Be knowledgeableon products and services
Keep all areas clean and organized
Promote and sell spa products
Escort guests to and from treatment areas
Ensure safety regulations are followed
Report any guest incidents
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or hotel management
Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring his/her attention
Participate in all hotel and departmental meetings as requested
Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing,identifying and solving problems as necessary
Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations
Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-worker
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (30%)
1. Assist Spa Director/ Spa Manager as required.
2. Complete special projects/events as assigned.
3. Conduct tours of Spa when requested.
4. Assist in training new Spa personnel as needed.
Knowledge and Skills:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent certificate preferred. State of Maine Massage License Required
Experience: Experience necessary; 1-2 years preferred.
Previous customer service and hotel experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Retail sales ability preferred.
